That marks 8 consecutive years in the Top 10 for the Boys and 3 consecutive years in the Top 4 for the Girls. The Boys also finished in 2nd Place for the famed Bobby McKinley “10-Man” Traveling Trophy for a 2nd consecutive year. This year they were edged by the Billings Wrestling Club. At the conclusion of the tournament; 6th Graders, Jack Morehouse and Aiden Aune both qualified for Team Montana! GWC Finishes in 4th Place at the Brodie Gorder Memorial Team Duals for 2nd Consecutive Year
The Brodie Gorder Memorial Weekend is always one of the TOUGHEST events of the year and this year was no different. The “Brodie” traditionally closes out the regular season and provides our Wrestlers with excellent competition as we head into State AAU and the Montana Open the next two weekends at the Billings Metra! On Saturday, The Team Duals kicked it all off with 18 of the best Clubs in the region in attendance. For a 2nd consective year, GWC would claim 4th place honors. Matching the best finish in Club history at the event. The team duals provide an opportunity for individuals to shine in a team atmosphore. Our kids do an excellent job supporting their teammates. Due to the winter weather conditions that slammed Eastern Montana in recent days, half of our original entrees were unable to attend the event. However, 28 Highlanders still competed in the individual tournament on Sunday at Sidney High School Gymnasium. GWC was paced by SIX individual CHAMPIONS and eighteen Top 3 finishers! Good job kids and coaches and good luck the next two weekends.
CJ Sillerud “Hanging” with Coach Sillerud after going 5-0 on the Day!
Another weekend, another outstanding performance by the Glasgow Highlanders! This Saturday and Sunday, brought events in Glendive and Lewistown. GWC sent 35 grapplers to Glendive and came away with an impressive 17 Individual CHAMPIONS. 28 of our 35 Highlanders claimed Top 3 finishes at the event. It was the final regular season event for the “Northeast Division” and our club left no doubt on who currently holds the strength. Nineteen of our 5th thru 8th graders attended Lewistown on Saturday, for the prestigous Montana Middle School State Championships. It was a grueling 14-hour day that saw some of our older Highlanders wrestle up to 8 matches! At the conclusion of the event, the Glasgow Wrestling Club finished in a tie for 14th Place out 60 teams with 122.5 points. 4th Place among Class B/C clubs in attendance. The club was paced by four individual placers on the Varsity side and another two placers in the JV brackets. Finally, a small group of five Highlanders competed in the “Big Spring Brawl” also in Lewistown on Sunday. Desite the small team, GWC was still able to finish in 7th place out of 21 teams at the event. We crowned four CHAMPIONS on Sunday and those that attended got in some serious mat time! This weekend we will begin the stretch run. The Highlanders will attend the Brodie Gorder Memorial in Sidney on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will feature the “Team Duals’ and Sunday will be the Invididual bracketed event.

The Glasgow Highlanders spent time apart this weekend, however, they had one thing in common. Success. The majority of the club attended the Wolf Point/Poplar Invitational in Wolf Point and a smaller contingent attended The “Cyclops” in Butte. In Wolf Point, GWC had 60 wrestlers in attendance. The Highlanders continued their impressive season in the Northeast AAU Division by crowning 16 Individual Champions and 40 Top 3 place winners! In Butte, the 15 Highlanders in attendance made a strong statement, as our team walked away with the Small Team Championship! It marks a 2nd consecutive Team Title at the Cyclops for the Glasgow Wrestling Club. The Cyclops is considered one of the premier regular season tournaments in Montana; so anytime you can put team hardware in the trophy case from the event it is certainly a sign of STRENGTH. The Team Championship was made possible in large part to 4 Individual Champions and 12 podium finishers. Four of our Cyclops participants also took part in the Mining City Middle School Tournament in Butte on Saturday. With three of the four individuals securing a top 4 finish. Next Saturday, the club heads east to the Poplar Invitational, while many of our 5th-8th Graders will head west to wrestle at the Havre Middle School Tournament on Saturday.
