Circle, MT-  The Highlanders had a little “tune-up” tournament this weekend before the annual Brodie Gorder Memorial dual tournament in Sidney next weekend.  This Highlander squad once again dominated the competition, crowning 15 Champions, a tournament best 93 wins and a 73% winning percentage.  Scottie Freshman Kyler Hallock also competed at the Prestigeous Rocky Mountain Nationals tournament in Denver.  Hallock claimed the 15U 156 lb Freestyle Championship.

Great Falls, MT-  Many of the “old-timers” clamor for the old days, when we only had one classification and ALL the kids competed in ONE STATE TOURNAMENT.  Fact is, every year the States best 4 through 18 year olds converge in Great Falls to compete at the State AAU Folkstyle tournament.  75 teams and 1350 kids combine to make this the most prestigious youth wrestling tournament in the state annually.  With that said, the 50 Highlanders that made the trek didn’t just show up to hang out, they went to DOMINATE!

This was our 2nd largest team we have ever brought to the event! The 5th largest team at this year’s tourney! Only Team Champs (Billings), North Montana (Great Falls), Rustler WC (Great Falls), and Havre had larger teams than GWC.

**Highlanders finished with 26 STATE PLACERS..the second most in our storied Club History! (Including 7 State Champions and 5 State Runner-Ups). The 7 state champs ties our club Record set in 1992!

**Highlanders finish in 5th place overall out of 72 teams at this weekend’s TRUE STATE tournament!!  We scored 348.5 points, finishing behind only 3 Class AA feeder programs & Huntley Project.

The Highlanders finished in 2nd place overall for the famed “Bobby McKinley” traveling trophy for best (10-man scoring team)!! Finishing with 85 points. 2nd only to the Team Champs (Billings) with 92.  It’s the 3rd best finish in program history!

The Highlanders are in the middle of a historic run over the past few years. Just amazing to watch and be a part of. Only 3 weeks left of our outstanding 2019 season. We are doing things BIG things with our program.

Coach Brenner Flaten was extremely pleased with how the kids competed, which turned out to be one of the most successful state tournaments in program history.  “We are so fortunate to have great parents, great coaches, and a community that loves Wrestling. Most of all we are fortunate to have kids that leave everything on the mat. said Brenner.”

Glendive, MT 3/2/19 – In what is becoming a theme for this year’s Highlanders.  The Glasgow Wrestling Club Captured another team Championship over the weekend at the MidRivers Invitational in Glendive!  On the back’s of 10 individual champions and 25 top three finishes, the Highlanders outdistanced the 22-team field.  Eight Highlanders also competed at the Middle School State Tournament in Lewistown on Saturday finishing with a 13-13 overall record.  Kohl Kittleson led the way with a runner-up finish for the Middle School State Title at 152 lbs.
Our grapplers from pre-K thru 11th grade are now preparing for one of our biggest tests of the season!  The State AAU Folkstyle Tournament will be held at Great Falls High this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  The coaches are excited to show the rest of the state how hard we have been working.  It’s going to be a great weekend for the Highlanders.  Results from this past weekend:

Sidney, MT 2/23/19- Nearly 5 dozen Highlanders made the trip east this weekend to compete in the always tough Eagle Invitational in Sidney.  To say the Highlanders had a DOMINATING performance would be an understatement.  The Highlanders crowned 20 TOTAL CHAMPIONS and had 42 top 3 performers.  The Highlanders posted an impressive 72 pins, 128 wins and a tourney best 68% winning percentage.  That performance was good enough to claim the team TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP with 200 team points.  Middle School aged wrestlers Jaydeen Hanshew, Jack Cornwell, Ethan Nickels, Kohl Kittleson and Mayson Donaldson made the trek to compete with Team Delta Force at the Belgrade Duals.  Delta Force DOMINATED the event; came away with a 6-0 team record and claimed the tourney championship.  Things are shaping up nicely for the Glasgow Wrestling Club heading into the State tournament in a couple weeks.  Next weekend the Highlanders will compete at the Glendive Invitational tournament and Middle School State @ Lewistown.  Please join THESE Highlanders at the Elks Club, this Thursday night for the Annual Spaghetti Feed / Pie Auction.  The Spaghetti Feed gets kicked off @ 6:00, with the Pie Auction to follow.  This is our main fund raiser, which supports out-of-state travel, camps/clinics and our NEW wrestling facility which we will break ground on THIS SPRING. 2/2/19 Gillette, WY-  Twenty Highlanders laid it on the line against the top competition in the region this past weekend at the prestigious Wild West tourney held in Gillette, WY.  The Highlanders finished with 5 placers and a 48% winning percentage in the 165 team tournament.  Individual placers were Jaxson Kemp 5^th, Jaydeen Hanshew 5^th, Andrew Linder 6^th, Jack Cornwell 6^th and Kohl Kittleson 5^th.  The Highlanders get the week off this week, as the High School has the showcase with the ALL-CLASS MHSA event in Billings @ Metra Park this Friday and Saturday.  The club will resume action on Saturday, February 16^th at the Poplar Invitational.

1/27/19 Glasgow, MT- The Highlanders got a chance to perform in front of their home crowd this past weekend and perform they did. 438 area wrestlers PACKED Scottie Gymnasium (71 Highlanders) for an outstanding day of wrestling. As the dust settled, the Highlanders crowned 26 individual champions and 50 top three place winners. That was good enough to cruise to a team championship by 15 points over runner-up Coyote Wrestling Club out of Williston. The Highlanders were also able to topple perennial powers Sidney and Havre by a comfortable margin. These future Scotties are turning into “pinning machines” with an impressive tournament best 158 wins and 117 by pin. Great job Highlanders, coaches and parents for putting on a show for the home crowd and hosting AN OUTSTANDING event for everyone involved. A small group of Highlanders ALSO attended the Billings Heights Middle School event on Sunday. Jack Cornwell led the way with his SECOND title in two days. This weekend’s competition leads the Highlanders to the prestigious “Wild West” tournament in Gillette, WY.

1/19/19-  The Highlanders were spread across the region this past weekend, competing at the Zach Anderson Memorial Open in Williston, the Pre-Pony Rumble in Havre and the Colstrip Invitational.  The weekend was HIGHLIGHTED by a Medium team championship at the Havre tournament.  Overall the Highlanders finished the weekend with 118 wins, 77 pins and a 56% winning percentage.  After the dust settled 16 individual champions, 38 top 3 place and 55 top 6 place winners were crowned.  Next weekend the Glasgow Wrestling Club will be hosting their Annual Invitational Wrestling Tournament @ the Glasgow High School, Saturday January 26th 9:00 A.M.   Come out and support these kids!

1/13/19 Miles City, MT-  The Glasgow Wrestling Club went out of division to start the year, sending the third largest team to the “Little Cowboy” in Miles City this past weekend.  The Highlanders didn’t just boast numbers though, as these youngsters had the second highest winning percentage (57%) of any team over 10 kids and finished the weekend with 55 team pins.     Overall the highlanders crowned 10 champions and 27 top 3 place winners.  Next weekend the Highlanders compete in Williston, ND and Havre.

Billings, MT 3/25/18  The Highlanders brought their “A” Game at the Montana Open this weekend at the Billings Metra! The Open is the premier tournament of the season in our state and it’s a TRUE regional event that features just under 2,000 grapplers from MT, ND, SD, WY, ID, WA, and NE.
GWC came in and set two NEW club records once again. The Highlanders finished in 10th place overall out of 146 teams! It is the HIGHEST team finish in our club history at this event. For the first time ever, we crowned THREE Montana Open Champions in one year. The 12 placers over the weekend is also the 2nd most we have ever had at the Open.
