1/21/17- The Glasgow Highlanders made the trek to North Dakota to compete in the Zach Anderson Memorial Open in Williston this past weekend. These youngsters continue to impress early in the season, crowning 10 CHAMPIONS and 33 place winners. Congrats and keep grinding boys. We’re proud of you!

1/15/17: The Highlanders had quite an IMPRESSIVE opening weekend of wrestling @ the Miles City Invitational and Helltown Throwdown in Helena crowing 7 CHAMPIONS! We were the third LARGEST team in Miles City. Not bad for only three practices. The Highlanders will be competing in the Zach Anderson Memorial Open @ Williston, ND this weekend.

Highlanders Invade Winter Nationals

Dylan Nieskens (2nd), Colten Fast (2nd), Tel Aune (5th), Cooper Larson (4th), Ty Kittleson (6th) and Kyler Hallock traveled to Omaha Nebraska last weekend for winter nationals. All 8th graders so the future is looking bright! The GWC Highlanders will be in Miles City for the first area youth tournament of the year. Results to follow next week.

Nieskens , Highlanders Compete in Dual Meets

First ever dual experience for GWC wrestlers was a huge success!

The Glasgow Wrestling Club competed at the Inaugural Brodie Gorder Dual tournament in Sidney this past weekend.  GWC’s first experience at a dual tournament.

Competing for the Highlanders were:  Tyler King, Hank Hopstad, Khye Gamas, Ted See, Jake Kuka, Flint Dix, Connor Hudyma, Jaydeen Hanshew, Ethan Nickles, Ethyn Schindler, Levi Overvold, Kyler Hallock, Grady Nielsen, Carlos Gonzales, Blake Overvold, Kohl Kittleson, Riley Overvold, Tavin Boland and Jackson Bishop.

The Highlanders placed 5th overall in the LARGE team division. Khye Gamas and Kyler Hallock both went undefeated at 5-0 for the day. Blake Overvold won a quick pin trophy for his :10 fall.

Seventh grader Dylan Nieskens traveled to Iowa and competed with Team Montana against some of the nations BEST @ the Lee Palimuk national dual tournament.  Dylan did outstanding against some very tough competition, finishing 5-3 on the weekend.  Team Montana did great, with the help of Dylan who came away with an All-American medal and team medal on the weekend.  Great job Dylan!

3/20/16- The GWC Highlanders were dispatched across the nation this past weekend for some outstanding wrestling action. 38 grapplers competed at the Circle Invitational, Black Hills Nationals (Spearfish, SD) and Rocky Mountain Nationals (Denver, CO), with many coming away with some prestigious hardware. The Highlanders will compete in Sidney this weekend for the Inaugural Brodie Gorder Memorial Elementary Dual tournament.

Highlander Highlights from State AAU this weekend in Great Falls:

**Highlanders TIE last year’s club RECORD with 45 wrestlers participating in the State Tournament! The 5th largest team for the 2nd year in a row. Only North Montana (Great Falls), Havre, Team Champs (Billings), and Darkhorse (Billings) had larger teams than GWC.

**Highlanders Set a NEW CLUB RECORD with 18 state placers! (Including 2 State Champions and 5 State Runner-Ups)

**Highlanders Finish in 9th place overall out of 66 teams!! First among ALL Class B/C towns. Finishing behind only 7 Class AA feeder programs and Havre.

** 7th Grader, Dylan Nieskens, qualified for Team Montana! He will represent our State at The Middle School National Duals in Iowa over Easter Break.
